FF XII is more focused on politics rather than magic. What 's your feeling guys. Let me know.

It's not at all focused on magic. No more so than other FF games. It's focused on politics and a resistance fighting against an empire. :roll

Yes you are right buddy. The game is different from other FF games and politics rather than magic is more involved in the game

Well in a way most of them are pollitical I mean FFII you were fighting an evil empire, FFVI was also against an evil empire led by an insane clown, FFVII was fighting against an evil corporation (for most of the game), The sorceress from FFVIII was trying to rule the world and held a position of power, FFIX was fighting against a power hungry queen at first, and in FFX you fought against a misguided religion that held too much power, X-2 had the whole two parties fighting with each other and you had to side with one. I think the only ones who didn't involve politics were FF, FFIII, FFIV, and FFV.

I think that FF XII is heavily focused on poliics. Since the very beginning, we are thrown into political conflict between two states.

I agree with you.The game is political with the two states involved “the Draconic Arcadia” and “the Rosaria” forming the main characters of the game.
Interesting to see if FF XIII would also turn out to be a political game.

What about FFII and VI they're heavilly pollitical too...though the magic is highly intermixed with them.

agree with aruko about it being boring, but FFII is well unique with the level system thing, and thta kept me with the game because i loved that system, and FFVI you got so many carecters and well i rly like having alot of charecters because then i have a better choice for them, or maybe they dint bore me because of the battle system, i rly do like turn based games.

and yeah the game is very political and i believe FFXIII might also be like that because if you look at it, it is getting less magical and a bit more political.

I dunno maybe it was the fact that they had a better storyline that pulled that off. I dont mind politics if you make me care...if you get me involved...FFXII didnt do that because they didnt pull me in maybe thats my problem XD

Final Fantasy XII isn’t Square Enix’s best achievement to begin with. Major parts of its system are dislikeable and in need of serious developments. Despite if there is enough magic or not; FFXII didn’t have that much of political issues, the storyline in my opinion was more focused on Ashe’s story and the personal decisions she makes with the view of her kingdom and deceased husband in mind, the political issues were used as a background for Ashe’s story, but not the main story. I mentioned before that the storyline in FFXII has few good parts; well; it would have been better if they focused on Balthier’s history with the Archadian Empire involving it more with Dalmasca, Rosaria, the resistance… etc.

Most of you said “It began with…” yes indeed it began with a political conflict… and then… two years passed… and the story was all about Ashe regaining her birthright. It would have been a much better storyline if the game took place two years before the events in FFXII, Rusler’s death and the events that followed. That will not only cause the disappearance of the source of uselessness; Vaan and Penelo from the main screen; but will also improve the storyline’s quality by giving it some originality. That would have made the game political. Political or not, at least it would have been better. That’s what I think.

I wont argue that politics was the main focus of the storyline. If it was I dont think we would be playing the characters that we were. But because the story was a lot about Ashe of course politics would be involved because of her status theres not really any way around that...or at least I dont see it. I just think if your going to weigh a game down with that much involvment in politics you have to make me care like FFVII and FFII you cared..or at least I did cuz the game drags me in. FFXII didnt do that because it kinda fell short in the storyline department in my oppinion and thats not even the only thing it fell short in. I agree with you though Lara it probably would have been a lot more interesting if we would have played back in time a bit instead of where we were, but I guess they wanted to try to do something a few years after that and it just didnt work out so well.

I think it was squares intention not to make Vaan an important character despite being the main character in order to see though him and more look around at the world. however due to the lack of character development, the story dragged on, which made it less than appealing to the fina fantasy fans, the ones who actully buy the game. i think trully that square should have just remade tactics with better graphics, change the concept art of the characters change the naems of the towns and and labeled it "Final Fantasy XII" instead of making what they did. after all, if you look at tactics, they have politics and they have character development and drama, and everything else, and truth be told youll catch me playing that before final fantasy XII

So in concusion, yeah, it was political based

I said the politics were used as a background for Ashe’s story, I didn’t deny its existence in the entire game

That’s Square Enix’s job which it should have done, sadly it didn’t and headed for a much worse direction. I agree with you, the game that is all about politics would be boring, especially if the political issues themselves aren't that well developed. The best storylines are those who have more than one aspect. FFVII is a masterpiece, sure it had some politics, which is not a bad thing at all, but there were more to the storyline than just that; making it very good in everything it has. Final Fantasy XII could have been made better, I mentioned the few changes they could have made in the storyline, it would have made the storyline better and I wouldn’t mind having politics involved if it’s actually good.
