im curious as to your opinion of ffx-2 tifa. because that whole game was based on 3 strippers. and its my personal opinion that they chainged the characters into that for many a fanboy.

That's true in a way. I didn't like in FFX-2 that the main characters were all girls and I hated the way they dressed. However; I liked their stories and parts of the game's system; especially the battle system...

Moving to FFXII; I didn't like Fran's or the Viera's clothing design, but I liked them. Fran is one of my favorite characters in FFXII and I always had her in my party. She's cool.I actually didn't pay much attention to her clothing while playing the game.

Clothing like this isn't only to be found in Final Fantasy series; it's everywhere. So I don't think anyone should blame SE for any of it. It's just the way the world is these days.

Kind of an odd way to start a random topic within a topic but i agree with you completely. This world has come to thing such as women wearing close to nothing and its honestly shameful. H3ll im a man i should like this and i just find it degrading to women everywhere...

Anyway back on topic No i do not like the Viera espescially Fran

In honesty square have been doing this for a while, not necessarily with scanty clothing but you only have to look at Tifa's boobs to work out that the character designers at square clearly like women and like to do perverted things with them. At the end of the day it's a game, if you really don't like it that much then don't play the game, don't buy it, the company will loose money if enough people don't buy it and wont be able to make games any more. now if you still want to play the game even though it has these things in them then it obviously doesn't bother you as much as you thought so stop complaining

I agree. If people are not going to have the maturity to sit and watch a skanky girl shoot some beasts with bow and arrow, why BOTHER buying and playing Japanese-origin RPGs? It's in all of them!

Plus, someone here admited in another topic that they liked girls, and in this topic, the same person said they don't want to be staring at Fran's ass.

Now I don't know what kind of "girls" you guys are into, but from this point of view, Fran is pretty hot for a pixelated character. You don't necessarily have to stare at her ass to have her in your party. I mean, the choice of not doing so because her ass is there reminds me of the little 2nd graders going:

Random Girl - EW! BOYS! GROSS!

And,

@kasedogg08

Don't. Why do you feel it is shameful for women to be dressing in whatever way? I dress the way I very goddamn well want to, and I admit sometimes I dress in such a way to show my features, to show my body, 'cuz I like it that they stare. And I am not, definately, the only one.
Honestly, I think only three types of girls feel it is shameful to dress this way and that would have a prob with Viera. Firstly, the Nun-Wanabes. No explanation there, just do not play the damn game. The not-so-fortunate ones. Confidence shows. If you're gonna hide all your life, too bad. Don't play the game if you mind that a pixelated character is hotter than you. The overly-shy. No way to solve that. If you can't stand to show your own beautiful body, and if you can't even stand to -occasionally- look at a character's ass, then YOU'VE got a problem, NOT the game.

Said.

Disliking the clothing design of one or some characters or criticizing them doesn’t precisely mean disliking the characters themselves, that would be so childish and superficial, and that’s what I clarified earlier.

However; it’s an exaggeration to not play the entire game or even buy it just because of an outfit that several people, like me, don’t pay much attention to it while playing and focus more on the storyline and the game itself.
I don’t mean only outfits and clothes; I am expressing my opinion in general, it could be characters for example. I find Vaan unbearable and I can’t stand him… well maybe not that much since he is only a videogame character in spite of everything :P … yet; it would be an overstatement to say “I won’t play the game because of him”… that’s just stupid!

I don’t want to go off-topic and start discussing what women are wearing/ should be wearing ….but I agree with Riku on several points she mentioned in her post.

What's wrong with Fran? It's immature to dislike a character due to their clothing or appearance. Besides, many Japanese origin RPG's, they usually have many people, women in particular, scantily clad with big breasts, it's Japanese culture or summat :P

I completely agree, and apparently they can’t have enough no matter how high the profit they gain from it. It doesn’t really bother me that much as long as I am able to buy and enjoy playing the games.

I agree as well. But this doesn't go just as far as slutty dressing. Square Enix in and of itself is a marketing genious. They've started to give off such bad games. If you notice, the only reason most of us will continue to buy the FF games is because of their beautiful "graphics", and there's no use trying to convince anyone otherwise. It's obvious.

RPGs used to be bought because of the storyline, the epic tales. Final Fantasy VII... Suikoden II... Legend of Dragoon... Back then, there were beautiful RPGs, with average graphics, yet such a beautiful storyline. Nowadays, kids worry SO much about graphics that they won't give two sh*ts about the storyline. It is sad, but it is the truth. Back then, we would turn the cover and read the story. Now, we turn the cover and look at the screenshots.

Slutty dressing is just another level of proving this fact to be right.

I hope you're not referring to kids as in me. I play FF1, nes version, and frankly I prefer it to the GBA/PSX version, so do quite a few of my mates, graphics are good but they aren't everything. Which is why I <3 old RPG's, they didn't bother about graphics, they were basicly the same, the one thing that defined an RPG was story, now, graphics. People are going crazy in this day an age, and "back then we would turn the cover and read the story", true, but for me "turn the cover and read the story whilst examining graphics". I still want a visually appealing game whilst at the same time a good story :D

Haha, don't worry my friend. By "kids", I mean everyone that does it. There's bound to be a few good RPG lovers amongst the younger gamer crowds of today. I am aware of that.

Ever since they became Square Enix its started at a steady downhill. Its unfortunate. Hopefully they can bounce back.
