Godly relationships – Live Science reports how a college education for women means they stay married and more than likely marry by forty if they desire to marry.
Based on a new study on such godly relationships, the post-modern American may need to reorganize their thoughts on what kinds of women marry. This study, with respect to marriage management, – entitled “College-Educated Women More Likely to Stay Married” – conducted by Adam Isen and Betsey Stevenson from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, as reported in Live Science on January 26, 2010, found that the statistics on who gets married has changed since the 20th century. The Post-Modern American can now think of the marrying kind as the college-educated woman.
Single Life Then Marriage for the Educated Woman
The study of godly relationships reveal how women who have obtained a college education may marry later, but usually marry once. Also, if these women divorce, then they divorce less than their less-educated cohorts. Also, the college-educated woman has higher statistics for marrying by age forty. Based on the statistics it appears that the more education a woman possesses correlates to having a more successful marriage.
Other good news from this report of marriage management comes for women of twenty-five to thirty-five who may feel like spinsters because they chose first to pursue their education and/or career and then marry. The good news is the average age for people with first marriages has increased. Furthermore, marriage rates of women with a college degree have grown for this century from the 1980s (and 1950s), while their less-educated counterpart’s marriage rates have decreased.
So for a woman who has an education and desires marriage, her education may help her in that process because past statistics have changed dramatically. For instance, a woman of ages thirty-five to forty with a college education from today has a twenty-percent likelihood of getting married by forty, instead of the unlikelihood of the past. Even a woman without a college education’s percent of the likelihood for marriage has increased to fifteen percent.
One statistic that has not changed remains in that a woman with only some college education still has a higher rate of marriage than women with only a high school diploma and women with a college degree. However, the college-educated woman aged forty will more than likely marry in the next ten years of her life. It seems that the more education a woman has the more robust the statistics become for women concerning marriage.
The College Educated Spinster
The conclusion of these findings of godly relationships point to a new direction in how marriage relates to the culture of U.S. society, however, it seems the perceptions of women and marriage has not changed as dramatically. These findings for marriage may not change any time soon, but the perception of spinsterhood, a negative connotation for the woman over twenty-five may need to change. Precisely because the number of single women over twenty-five has increased, says a marriage management expert.
So unmarried women aged twenty-five to thirty-five who may feel the stigma of singleness may not have to feel stigmatized by their singleness. In fact, society’s perception of the eighteen- to a twenty-five-year-old woman more than likely being married or should be married by then may start to shift to reflect the statistics on marriage for the twenty-first-century woman.
Godly Relationships Christian Marriage Help
Christian couples who are experiencing turbulence in their godly relationships will undoubtedly turn to God. However, while the couple prays and seeks guidance on how to approach the marital issues they are having, Christian marriage help also comes in the form of Christian marriage retreats. Below, couples will learn how to improve their marriage now with a Christian marriage retreat.
What are a Godly Relationships Christian Marriage Retreat?
Christian marriage retreats are often recommended by Christian marital therapists or counselors. They are typically relaxing, soothing atmospheres – whether at a hotel or spa facility – in which the couple can relax and have the freedom to work on the issues affecting their marriages. Most counselors will see the couple throughout their stay at the marriage retreat, making suggestions on which topics should be focused on and drawing out the underlying issues. This will help Christian couples understand exactly what the problem is.
Bonding Goes Hand in Hand with Healing
While the couple works on the issues affecting their marriage, they are able to experience closeness with one another. This allows them to reforge the bonds that may have been broken under the strain of day-to-day life. Counselors will also help build effective communication between the partners so that the couple can truly heal their marriage from the inside out.
The bonding, communication and addressing of the issues at hand all work together to help the couple save their marriage and experience the same sort of happiness that was experienced at the beginning of the marriage.
Addressing the Problem Rather Than Ignoring It
Unfortunately, many couples that are experiencing issues in their marriage will allow those problems to fester while they ignore them. This is a recipe for marital disaster because those issues are not going to go away. They are going to grow and grow until the situation is much drier than it needs to be. Christian marital retreats help couples face their problems head-on, learning what they need to do in order to keep their marriage happy and healthy.
Learning Through Others’ Experiences
Much Christian marriage retreats place couples alongside other couples that are having issues as well. This allows individuals to hear some of the common issues that affect a Christian marriage and some of the most valuable solutions that others have found for addressing those problems. There is nothing like learning directly from someone who has encountered the problem and who has faced it down. Couples will truly benefit from the experience of others and will be able to share important information that might help another couple who is experiencing marital problems.
Peace and Relaxation
It’s difficult to try and address marital problems at home, as there are many distractions including the kids, work, household chores, duties, and more. A Christian marriage retreat offers the couple peace and relaxation that will benefit them as they tackle those marital problems head-on. The calming and serene atmosphere will help greatly in the quest to banish all negativity from the marriage.
