How To Fix These Common Oven Issues

Heating issue

If your oven fails to heat up lately, it is a big problem. The cause can be due to a faulty igniter. To find that there is no other issue to it, test on gas stovetop one of the burners and see whether it is receiving gas and thereafter igniting. When you set a temperature you hear some faint clicks and also typical whoosh sound of igniting. If you don’t hear these, you need to replace the igniter. It is easy and requires disconnecting the range from power and disconnect a quick release wiring connection by removing some screws. Replace new igniter here and tighten the screws again.

Not heating to correct temperature

This may be understood if food takes longer than before time in cooking or coming out undercooked. This can be due to a faulty temperature sensor or even if the sensor is touching the wall of the oven.

The first thing to check is that the temperature sensor is not touching the inside wall of the oven as this affects the measuring of accurate internal temperature. If this is not the case, use an ohmmeter to test whether the temperature sensor is working. If it is faulty, the sensor resistance will not rise with the internal temperature. The replacing part is easy and you can do it yourself.

Not cooking evenly

If you find the toast is not evenly toasted like before, you need to check whether the heating elements are not working properly or the temperature sensor. To find you need to first preheat the oven and see whether heating elements is fully glowing red and also the temperature sensor’s resistance is rising. If this is not seen, you need to replace it.
