Review: Microsoft Lumia 640 – Good budget phone

The new flagship from the stable of Microsoft is considered as one of the best smartphones currently available in the market in terms of screen and camera. More to this, there is added advantage to buying it is swappable back panel for fresh color. And no doubt the Windows Phone software has now become easier than before to use.

However, there’s bad aspect too about the Microsoft Lumia 640. For selfie lovers the device cannot be the best choice as it comes with very poor resolution front camera. Apart from this, the battery life is learned to be short and of course there are far less apps available on the OS platform compared to that of Android and iOS.

Cross checking few of the leading tech websites for a ranking the Microsoft Lumia 640 seems worth buying to some extent as design and camera wise it is ranked 8 out of 10, and in terms of performance and features the phone gets 7 out of 10. The ranking battery is pathetic to some extent. It is 6 out of 10. If considered overall, the phone ranks 7.2 out 10.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 is termed as budget phone and is currently available in the UK market. Microsoft is selling SIM-free for £120. If you are looking to buy under contracts, it starts at only £13.5 a month. The phone is still awaited in the US market. The official websites shows “coming soon.”

The phone sports 5-inch display offering resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It comes with 294 ppi. It is mounted with 8-megapixel rear camera to help users take some decent shots. The front camera is disappointing and comes with just 0.9-megapixel lens. The device is fuelled by a 2.500mAh battery and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor and comes with 1GB of RAM.

  • Very good screen, very good camera, very good sound, speedy phone and OS, good battery life (far better than android or iOS on the same screen/processor) and it is even better considering the price (you get same specs for double the price on android….
