Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ Tops US Billboard 200 For Eighth Week
Taylor Swift's '1989' continues ruling the weekly US Billboard 200 chart even in 2015. This is the eighth non-consecutive week the album has topped the chart.
The country-turned-pop superstar ended the year holding Number 1 position and started 2015 with same recognition. This is her 5th album and second longest-running No. 1 album.
Her second full-length album 'Fearless' topped the chart in 2008 and 2009 for eleven non-consecutive weeks. Her other two popular albums, 'Speak Now' of 2010 and 'Red' of 2012, were on No. 1 positions for six and seven weeks respectively.
According to Nielsen SoundScan Music, '1989' has sold 172,000 physical copies until the week ending on January 4. A total of 244,000 downloads have been registered in the same period.
