Top Five Films and Shorts From John Lasseter

John Lasseter may not be a name you recognize immediately upon hearing it. However, you have most definitely seen or heard about the work he does. Mr. Lasseter produces and directs animated films and shorts. Some of this top and most recognizable work was done with Disney and Pixar films. However, he is currently working with Skydance Animation and hopes to have the same level of success with that company as he has had with Disney and Pixar. Here are some of the pieces for which Mr. John Lasseter is best known.

Frozen

Frozen was a huge box office success. It tells the story of two sisters, Anna and Elsa, their unique bond, and how they work together to overcome the challenges they face. The story also introduced us to lovable characters like Sven and Olaf. John Lasseter served as executive producer for the film and also went on to executive produce a spin-off called Olaf’s Frozen Adventures.

Toy Story

Toy Story is one of the most recognizable movie series in history. Children and adults alike can identify with the lovable characters, including cowboy Woody and spaceman Buzz Lightyear. Mr. Lasseter had a hand in both directing and writing the original Toy Story screenplay, as well as Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. Despite the first movie being released over 20 years ago, this movie series has shown it has staying power and will remain a classic for decades to come.

Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is the adorable story of a small clownfish named Nemo. The movie follows his adventures after he runs off and loses his father. John Lasseter was an executive producer on this movie, as well as an executive producer on the follow-up movie, called Finding Dory. Monsters, Inc.

As a parent, you may think that the last type of movie you want to show your children is a movie about monsters. However, Monsters, Inc. takes monsters that used to be scary and makes them lovable and comical creatures to which children can relate. This movie can also help to ease a child’s fears about monsters. John Lasseter served as the executive producer for the Monsters, Inc. movie, as well as for Monsters University, the follow-up movie to Monsters, Inc.

Short Films

In addition to helping create full-length animated films, John Lasseter has also had a hand in helping write, produce, and direct short films. During his career, he has had the opportunity to work on many short films. Some of the short films that have received high praise include Lady and the Lamp, Red’s Dream, Bao, and Tin Toy.
