If you spend a few minutes reading this article, you can be sure that your wrist accessory will look and feel new every time you wear it. Below you can find a few tips that will allow you to get the most out of your watches, as well as preserve their value.
Strap cleaning instructions
There are important steps that have to be taken when cleaning the strap. Firstly, start by washing your hands to remove dirt and oil, and then follow these instructions:
- Before removing the strap check the crown and make sure that it is tightly screwed to the case. Ignoring this step can lead to costly repairs.
- Find a medium-sized bowl and mix ammonia-free soap with warm water.
- Use your hands to apply soapy water to the strap.
- Clean all surfaces by gently brushing. For best results, you may need a soft bristled brush.
- To dry properly, gently wipe your watch with a soft cotton cloth.
Caring for the clockwork
Everyday wearing watches can quickly cause them to become dirty or dull looking. It is important to keep the watch clean, as dirt not only affects the appearance of the watch but also can affect its functioning. You can wash your clockwork. If the watch is not waterproof, it is not recommended wetting them. To maintain a polished look and avoid scratches, it will be better to avoid contact with water unless you clean the watch.
Before cleaning, make sure that the crown is screwed tightly to the case so that water cannot penetrate inside the watch. Using warm water, rinse the clock to remove all particles. Then use a mild detergent to wash gently the watch case. Then apply a soap paste or water solution. Using an instrument, such as an old soft toothbrush, can remove dirt from all crevices, especially between bracelet links which are hard to be cleaned. As soon as you finish brushing, gently immerse the watch in water in short intervals. Continuing to use warm water, gently wash away any remaining detergent and dirt. To complete the cleaning process, use a soft, clean cloth to dry gently the watch. Water can drain from the clock itself. A hairdryer may also be used to dry hard-to-reach places on a watch, for example, between links.
Attention!
If you notice any signs of water or condensation under the crystal, take the watch to a repair shop immediately.
How to cope with scratches on your watch?
Wearing and common use your watch will ultimately result in scratches. But at the same time, there are some steps you can follow to avoid scratching. For example, put your watch on a soft cloth or in a box at night, trying to avoid direct contact with a watch bracelet, another piece of metal or wood. Sometimes you can even unhook a metal bracelet from the watch.
Polishing
Unfortunately, scratches are inevitable. Safety glass is a subject to scratches and is a surface that needs extra attention. Glass can be easily polished every few months and that will provide it with an original look. To remove scratches, use a high-quality polishing cloth specifically designed for the glass to prevent additional scratches. This cloth should be soaked with a special polishing fluid. During the process of polishing or cleaning, do not use chemicals or cleaning agents that are not intended for jewelry. It is also important to use this soft material only on the polished surface of the watch, as the ingredients for polishing can damage an alternative matte surface. It only takes about a minute to polish, applying only moderate pressure, as the fabric easily removes scratches. If the area is not scratched, do not polish it. Polishing removes a thin layer of glass, bringing the layer to the level where there is a scratch, as a result of which it disappears.
