Why Ukrainian Women Want to Live Abroad

Many people imagine that all foreigners seeking to move abroad to America do it for one reason: to enjoy the spoils of American life. Having a job, and living both safely and comfortably are all novelties that many Americans take for granted; novelties that citizens of other countries around the world are not afforded. Most people however, would not imagine that there is in fact a greater reason that foreigners, and in particular the beautiful women of Ukraine want to make the move to the United States or even Europe. It isn’t luxury and security that attracts these women. It’s the men.

The Ratio of Ukrainian Men to Women

The first reason for this is the fact that ratio of men to women in the Ukraine and Russia is such that roughly 12% of women will not find husbands. Having a shortage of men in a culture full of women that want to be married is a big problem. Which is partially why these Ukrainian women are seeking husbands elsewhere.

The Culture of Marriage in Ukraine

The second reason for this is the antiquated culture of marriage in Ukraine. This is a direct result of the country being extremely outdated in its treatment of and rights for women. Ukrainian women still live in a very male-dominated society in which they are expected to assume all domestic and household-related responsibilities, in addition to holding jobs outside the home. Any deviation from this will result in an upset husband, and in a society with too few men available, this is something a Ukrainian woman will seek to avoid at all costs. She would rather stay in a bad marriage than get divorced and be without the option to remarry. Which brings me to my next point.

The Mal-treatment of Ukrainian Men towards Women

Not all Ukrainian men treat their wives well. Ukraine brides will very often be the victims of domestic violence, in many cases due to alcohol abuse. Men drinking heavily seem to be a staple of some facets of the culture, and unfortunately for these women, they are expected to take all of that in stride and simply deal with it, which is not exactly your prince-charming situation.

Ukrainian Women (like all women) Want a Good Match

Not unlike many cultures, finding a good match is seen as a big accomplishment for women in this society. Finding a responsible, kind, and respectable man is their ultimate relationship goal. They want someone with whom they can raise children and lead a happy, healthy existence. Sound familiar? It should, as this is something that women from all over the world want.

And for all of these reasons we find ourselves living in a society where these beautiful Ukrainian women are fleeing their homes to make new ones. It is not because they want to leave their countries, their friends, and their heritage. It is because they want to find what everyone does: love. So if you are an eligible bachelor that can see yourself with a woman like this,  and get to know a woman willing to put her heart on the line, and make the ultimate sacrifice for love.
